DECO Subsea owns and operates a unique range of pile dredge tools (all of them designed and built in-house) to support our pile cutting activities. We have pile dredging tools to remove any type of soil from loose sand to stiff clay, grout and rock in order to make the piles accessible for our internal cutting tools.
DECO Subsea's current portfolio includes a wide range of dredging tools for different soil types and pile diameters. Based on our extensive experience and our desire to continuously expand our capabilities and flexibility, we developed a multi-functional soil plug removal tool capable of dredging any soil type (very stiff clay/grout/sand) and easily adaptable to a wide range of pile diameters. This jetting-based solution has successfully been used on USS>400 kPa clay, 116 MPa limestone and 135 MPa grout.
We recently have developed a mechanical dredging module for use in difficult cohesive soils. This soil cutting module is designed for very stiff clays (>600 MPa), concrete and rock.
The mechanical soil cutting module can be integrated into our SPRTs. The resulting hybrid jetting/mechanical soil cutting solution still gives us the flexibility we need, but with greatly improved production.
For non-cohesive material dredging, DECO Subsea uses jet-assisted air lift systems or its DOP 1815 submersible hydraulic dredge pump.
These tools provide excellent production rates in loose sandy or gravelly soils, but are unable to deal with more challenging soil conditions such as clay, grout or rock.
For improved performance in specific circumstances, the simple airlift system may be equipped with waterjets.
For a specific application for the Belgian Navy, we have combined various tools into a micro-cutter suction dredge.
